Stretching background gradient?

How can I stretch my background gradient image instead of just repeating it vertically?

For example, at http://www.surfthechannel.com/, the background image is only 1x100, but it stretches the whole of the site and doesn't just repeat itself.

How can I do this?

any particular reason why you want to stretch it instead of repeating it?

i think that background image is actually repeating through css and not being stretched.
