![]() | 1024 x 768!!!! Someone emailed me to say that my site didnt look that great in this size screen, so I just changed my resolution on my laptop to have a look at it, and it looks crap I am using 1280 by 800 on my laptop and thought it looked good, so now I am thinking do I need to completely sort my site out! How much of an issue is this!!Interested as potentially means a lot of work! Frenchie

![]() | Currently I have my site set static in the middle of the page. In smaller resolution this means you have to scroll across to the right. Can anyone tell me how to make the layer hover in the middle of the page. I am used to using Tables and just centre them in the page. Advice appreciated...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Most People use resolutions over 1024x768 anyway.. 800x600 is considered to be outdated.. I remember when it was popular in the design culture. I wouldnt worry about it

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i like keeping all my widths to 950-1000px. it seems weird to see a page at "full screen" without any sort of background imo... not sure why. at least at 1000px you get 12px flanking the thing and it looks a bit nicer with that frame.

![]() | Thanks guys, so is your advice not to worry about it then? I messed around in dreamweaver for hours tonight and figured out the -500 margin settings etc but if you dont think I need to worry about people who have smaller screens I wont bother...

![]() | I still have been making my sites to fit 800X600 but still look good on a 1024x768 I realize that most people have the wider screens now but I’m just stuck on being versatile. Probably in the next year or 2 I won’t worry about 800X600 anymore. I wouldn’t worry about it the amount of people still in 800x600 is small. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I generally make mine about 750px wide. I think it's a good width to fit most resolutions and it's wide enough to get the information I need inside.

![]() | I'm developing some websites offline and all of my website wrappers are 1000px wide. For the 0.2% that still use 800x600, tough luck. I would assume the majority resolution to be 1280x1024 today. But 1024x768 is still significant enough that is has to be considered. But I either set defined widths on everything so it looks the same on every screen, or I will have a "center portion" that can stretch to the screen width, but then for people who use WS monitors like me, the website ends up looking like crap usually. |

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-discussion/489305-1024-x-768-a.html If you feel that you need to use "layers", keep the page left-aligned. You cannot make "layers" center-aligned.
