Dreamweaver Template Alternatives?

I've recently have weaned myself off of Dreamweaver and started hand coding everything since my discovery of PSPad. I think coding by hand is way better then using Dreamweaver.

Besides that when I bring my hand coded work over and open it up in Dreamweaver it tends to make it very sloppy. I find myself having to clean up after Dreamweaver and wasting my time.

However this has left me with a problem that I do not know how to get around? I still need to use the Dreamweaver Template to keep the site updated. There is no way I am going to go through several pages updating each one by hand.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-discussion/443115-dreamweaver-template-alternatives.html

What is the alternative?

If there are any hand coders out there what do you do if you do not use Dreamweaver templates?

Thanks.

dreamweaver has an "apply source formatting" feature that will actually clean up any code.

as for templating, just create php counterparts and include them throughout.

Hi shockie.

The problem with Dreamweaver is it would not include all of the CSS from the external style sheet. It turns out sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't. It just made a mess and made more work for me. It is fine if the CSS is done entirely in Dreamweaver though...?

I don't know PHP (am learning) so how exactly do you create PHP counterparts?

This sounds like the way to go.

Thanks.

dreamweaver works with external stylesheets. chances are there are reference errors because you don't have things in the right folders.

seeing as you're learning php, go read up and pay particular attention to php includes.
