![]() | assistance for a complete n00b hi everyone, this may sound n00bish to a lot of the veterans in this forum, but i hope that you willl help me out on this.. i have been tasked to come up with a dynamic website for the student council for my university (yea.. the **** a secretary gets) and my fellow council members have decided upon a commercial, sleek look to make the council look professional as well as post updates on events that we are going to hold and what are our upcoming plans etc.. two of us have been chosen to come up with the site as we are the only two guys who know how to code a website (asp w/ mssql), but unfortunately, our designing skills stink badly and none of the people in the council know how to use photoshop and other imaging applications etc. the website will be posted on our uni's internet, and thus, i have several queries.. 1) will photos/graphics that i leech off the internet and use for the website be liable for copyright infringement? 2) are there any tutorials out there which teaches us how to use photoshop to design a dynamic website? i know how to use photoshop, but no idea how to incorporate the various sections of a website into a psd file .. are these usually pre-determined even before you start work in photoshop? i.e. the designing stage? 3) while browsing through the forum, i saw a designer's portfolio at http://joseph.illusivedesign.net/ .. i am rather intrigued by his designs and find them excellent.. are there any guides that i can find on the internet that can lead me through such a designer's trail of thought from the moment he begins designing till the end? ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-discussion/32538-assistance-for-a-complete-n00b.html also, are the people that he used in his designs people whom the designer know, or are they pictures of executives taken off the internet? 4) can these designs be completed by myself within a month? i.e. in my scenario, given that i have no artistic talent, learning how to do it and actualising it? i have two months to come up with a design and put it up, and will greatly appreciate any assistance provided. thks! |

As far as your other question is concerned, visit SitePoint- it should answer most of your questions. I'm sure you could complete a website in a day if you had to, but it's the quality that's at loss if you don't learn the basics. Take your time. Oh yeah, welcome to the forums! |
