How big is a good template?

800x600 , 1024x768 - thats what i use

1024x768 is way to big

780x700 or something so the width fits the 800x600 IE window exactly, while the height is a more than the browser window height.

i have 780 width and like 900 height, i like long templates. and my template i just made is a design template, and it needs to be long

make it 780 wide... that`ll fit a 800-wide screen exactley. Length? as much as you need

Yes, it doesn't matter how long it is, as long as the width fits in the smallest res.
