the business side

I work in a company where my tech team and I work for business analytics. Does anyone have any information on how to "sell" a design idea. All the business people here are sort of afraid of beautiful designed sites with well laid out architecture and UI features. All my designs get ripped to shreds and I end up modifying them and not being happy with them. How can I sell it to them??

Heh. lots of sympathy, not alot of advice, - of about the last dozen sites ive done, basically, i eventually end up collecting the check with my arms thrown up in the air and walking away.

Well, my advice is that you show them similar "beautiful" sites that you find that are successful and doing a lot of business. That might sway them and open their eyes!

Its to hard to explain a "beautiful" design mixed with the benefits of SEO to a average designer, business owner, or surfer. It is just way to complicated for them to understand.

You must prove yourself on your own. Perhaps, if your company is small enough, take their traffic by creating your own design and beating them in their own rankings to gain respect.
Or simply agree to disagree.

That's why you always make new versions

Or, make the stuff so complicated/nice/beautiful that rippers can't rip properly and in the end, everbody looks at your design.

Yeah, good point. Its hard to prevent people from ripping off your design, but there's definitely a method to beat them most of the time... Anyway, just design superbly and you'll gain the respect you deserve!
