   | List of FREE Stock Photo Websites At one time or another, you will be looking for images to use on your website and a quick google images search just won't do the trick. Here is a list of websites that offer free stock photos, which are images you can use for free without running into copyright issues. FYI: There is a difference between FREE stock photos and ROYALTY-FREE stock photos. FREE stock photos are free, without charge, for you to use however you want. ROYALTY-FREE stock photos often require an initial payment, but can be used without further payment for commercial purposes (some may have a limit of how many times it can be used). The list of links below should be, for the majority, completely FREE stock photos. There should be absolutely no Rights-Managed ("licensed images") in the list below. Rights-Managed images require you to pay for every time you use it or reproduce it, so if you find one in the list below please let me know.   | StockVault (has free web templates too) http://www.stockvault.net WAS VERY HELPFUL I'm making a new site called linkpirates.com  similar to linkbee.comand I got over 1000 image results with the keyword pirate And I found the things that I needed and they were really cheap. I suggest anyone whos looking for a stock image check that site out, They have what you need. thanks for the list, JYM

| Added fotolia.co.uk to the list. Corbis.com doesn't seem to offer FREE stock photos, just royalty-free photos. There is a difference... or perhaps you only need to login. Please verify and let me know if it does actually have free photos.

| I've updated this thread with a website which contains a set of vector icons. This website, the Tango Desktop Project, is open source and I believe you can use their graphics for anything (as they give you the vector format of the icon). It is not necessarily a stock photo, but these icons can be enlarged and look very nice.
