Some Basic Questions!

I have 2 basic problems. The first is I have developed a site using 1 table, and have divided it up into rows, columns etc. All text, images etc are contained in cells. What I can't do is spand the overall table across the entire page. It has gaps all around the table. How to u remove these small gaps and have the page spanning all the way across the screen?

Question two. How do u fix the dimensions of the entire site for it not to move when the screen is resized?

Have you tried adding width="100%" in your table tag?

What exactly do you mean by when the screen is resized? Do you just mean like when someone makes the window smaller or?

well instead of putting percents you need to put pixel sizes such as 600 800 etc

If you have graphical elements in your site, you will find that having one table will not suffice. You will need multiple nested tables to accomplish what you are trying to do.

Post the code or a link to it.

Make sure "colspan" and "rowspan" are set correctly.

For example, if you have 2 cells in the top row and 3 cells in the bottom row then colspan for the top row will have to be set to 2 and so on.

Is this what you're talking about?

Hey what do you mean by spand? Well, if you're using pure HTML in notepad, then
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-discussion/22113-some-basic-questions.html

Make sure "colspan" and "rowspan" are set correctly. - painperdu

If you're using dreamweaver, always set your table into 800 pixels, then go to Modify menu>page properties. When thedialog window appear set all margin to 0. Then click apply.

To make you table look exactly the same even if the viewer are using a 1200 pixels monitor or 800 pixels monitor, set your table to 740 pixels. Then set your entire table in the middle using align="center".

Hope that helps!
