![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 75K image. Slice into 2 images, or leave as 1 image? Hello web designing NP'ers. ![]() I have a large image (75K), and want to know if it's better to slice in half creating two 37.5K images, or leave it alone as one 75K image? Does it really matter? Thank you.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello DB. Yes It will matter. I would slice it in 4 if I were in your place. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-discussion/208426-75k-image-slice-into-2-images.html Let me give you an example: You open my site and the header is 75K so it takes a while to load. And you get frustrated the instant you enter my site. It makes an impression that the site is slow. (Even if the internet connection which the user is using is slow itself.) Dividing it in more pieces. will load atleast 1 or 2 parts. And it will atleast give the user an idea "That everything is loading fast. Just wait more is coming." After all he or she has to download that 75K to view the image.

![]() | I agree with the above. It depends what the image is. If it's a header of a page, slicing it up into multiple pieces will be easier for the users. But if it's not an important part of the design, or if it's just a picture in a portoflio or gallery, you wouldn't need to slice it up.

If it's something that you have loading on multiple pages such as a logo on your website or something of that nature then I'd definitely chop it up just a bit. People are more willing to wait when it comes to something like a portfolio/gallery if it is just an image on a content page. |
