![]() | Personally I look at whether the icon was changed or not, as a sign of how much of a clue the forum owner has. If the forum has a custom icon I think "plus one". If they have some default icon I think "minus two". What I really like is when I hit some big corporate site and they have a stupid default server software favicon like say Netscape -- I think to myself "yep real clueless."

![]() | what's wrong with standard server favicons? Favicons don't really add much in the way of functionality or design. It's more like having a custom skin for a media player or OS. Personally, I stick with default (for os and media player skins, and generally favicons) simply because I don't care to change it. It servers no purpose for me to change it.

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-discussion/207854-if-you-have-vbulletin.html Technically speaking there is nothing wrong with leaving the default favicon behind, but it is a detail that has been left undone. The default favicon should either be deleted or replaced. If one doesn't take care of this piece of housekeeping, I wonder what other pieces of housekeeping they didn't take care of.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Tevi, that was a nub remark. It serves a lot of purpose. If you are going to skin your site and make it look nice then why would you leave the basic icon? Why don't you just leave the basic VBulletin skin while your at it...because by your theory that has no purpose either. |

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=207854 Here is the reason: I personally add forums to my bookmarks toolbar in firefox. I add them with no text. If you do not have a favicon I have to put text by it and that pisses me off, I am sure others will have this problem.
