My Site Looks Dull

People,

My site looks fine on my PC. It's bright; & has good clarity.

When I view it on other PC's, it looks dull...as in, not bright enough. It doesn't matter if it's my PC at work, or one of the machines down at the library...it just looks washed out.

What could be wrong?

Thanks,

mark4man

the only things thats different here is the monitors. Everyone has their monitor set to different settings of brightness, contrast, and depending on the monitor the amount of colours they show.

So in the end, there's nothing really you can do about it

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Also, some monitors maybe set to display 16 colours or 256 colours. These monitors will probably not display your site very well.

I personally like 1024x768 the best. Try using the same look for each page.. much easier to navigate if it's all neat

Everyone,

Thanks very much for the responses. I sort of figured that may be the case. I guess the thing was...I was really disappointed, because I had worked so hard on the site. When I viewed it; & it didn't look the same as it did on my monitor, it kinda' took the wind out of my sails.

Thanks again,

That's one reason why I work with two screens... both set to different resolution and brightness/contrats values...

Anyway no problem, people who have not so good screens will not see bright colors on any other site either, and their eyes are kind of adjusted... so you'll site will have the same effect.

Also you should remember that there are people looking at websites with all kinds of computers and browsers and handheld widgets, so your site will never look the same everywhere...

Just play with your monitor resolution, etc. and then design next time. Otherwise you'd have to go to everyone's house and set theirs to your settings!

You need to calibrate your monitor. If you are using Photoshop, it comes with a calibration tool that will do the trick. Otherwise try to search for monitor calibration software at www.cnet.com
