ImageReady definately does the trick you could also try a google search, there are some programs under $100 but usually limited.

Yes but quite expensive to get PS. Worth it but still expensive. Does Paint Shop Pro do animated images? If so I know its cheaper than PS/IR

Jasc Animationshop is pretty good, used it a while back, but nothing beats photoshop / imageready.

Agree! Animation Shop is the BEST animation editor aside to Imageready. Animation Shop comes with the Paint Shop package, so it is like PS and IR except not as good qualitywise

Ulead's GIF Animator. Cheap, and efficient (it'll also handle video -- AVI). What sets it apart, is it's optimizer (which is one of the best to squeeze the most out of an image, but still make it look good -- like with my avatar).

PSP's animation shop isn't bad for effects, either (comes with PSP).

Surely you are not stupid enough to suggest on a public forum that this person break the law.

Agreed. It seems everyone has forgotten lately that a lot of people are still on dial up. I have seen banners lately that are over 500k.

Ulead does a great job of both animation and compression.

GIMP! No not you, this.

It's completely free and has a lot of options for animating gifs, as well as anything else you could wish for.

If you're using windows, follow this link:
http://www.gimp.org/windows/

The documentation tells you everything you need to know, so don't say you can't figure it out.

I use Ulead's GIF Animator which much more simpler to use, Is a small file and takes little time to load...

But I also use PS because of its features which no other program provides
