The Appraisal Scam

Just thought i would share with the appraisal scam, it's been a while since i have received one but during the week i had a an offer for a name which i replied to 'make your offer via sedo' next day came the 'have you had it evaluated' email.

This is a well known scam that see's the person making a commission off your appraisal costs

Funny when i told them i knew of the scam they did not reply

IF you receive an offer from this email address you would be wise to not take it seriously, especially when you are just starting off ......its quite exciting and then a big let down

I always tell them ....

"Go ahead and get an appraisal from any service you like .... you have my permission"

I mean you don't need to own my name to get your own appraisal on it.

If it is the literal "your-domain-hosting.com"

File a complaint with GoDaddy.

They will charge him a fee and shut the site down. It's temporary but better then responding to them. If you feel compelled to respond - use a different email address and put in an offer on their domain and have some fun - a realistic one.

Rinse-Repeat as necessary.

I suggest posted their entire email in the thread so others can find it when they seach. Then I suggest reporting the emails as SPAM. A scam is hard to prove, but the spam is not. I will help you to file a proper report if you need it. :-)
