My friend got scammed

My friend Karen got two inquiries about her domains for sale at Sedo, and both of them said they wanted to buy her domains for high prices but they required an appraisal first. Well, long story short, she paid for two appraisals at $80 each and then the buyers backed out. Beware of that scam. It's going around.

It's been around for a long time. A seller should never be required to
Appraise their own domain. That is up to the buyer to do that .

I'm sorry to hear that someone took off with your friends $160. Now at least she knows how to detect a domain appraisal scam. Do you happen to know who or which company scammed her?

This happens all the time. Someone "pretends" to want an appraisal and even lists places like Sedo for it, but naturally using subtle wording to let you use their "preferred" appraisal service, which was the original intent all along.
