I received a similar email. The domain listed is in pending delete status and not available for sale. This person may be trying to find buyers for names before they expire.

Priority Domain Availability Notice for xxxxxx.com:

In the next few days, xxxxxx.com will be listed for sale. Since you have a similar domain name, I thought you might be interested in acquiring xxxxxx.com.

You can confirm your interest in the domain by filling out the form here: (link is dead)

InTrust is the company that took backorders and if they were good enough domains, they would refund the money and keep the domain for themselves.

Ekodomains

I was looking for domain I wanted for years, ekodomains emailed me with the same email above. Finally, they got it for me for the price I wanted. It was delivered to me in timely manner without any problems. Doesn't sound like a scam.

Confirming that EkoDomain a scam

EkoDomains is a very annoying scammer , it looks very legit, so it forces you to spend time validating that your domain they are trying to sell to yourself is not in jeopardy takes valuable time. With that said, when you get a scam like this, it's a good reminder to go though your domain management security and inventory of domains.

I got a nice phone call from Lydia at Ekodomains. It seems they emailed me about a domain close to one I owned. After offering a low price to see what they wanted, I just left the site. I didn't really care too much about the domain, but I thought their price was a fairly reasonable $49 compared to others that want at least $99 or more. The price she quoted me on the phone would be hard to refuse if I really had some interest in the domain, but I am trying to cut back on my inventory.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=692557

Then, after looking around the web I found this and other posts about it being a "scam" or that they are a "squatter" and neither of these terms seems to be accurate. Even if you don't like a "service" that doesn't mean it's a "scam".

Yes, they are trying to find buyers for domains that are going to drop, or ones they are "tasting". But that is not a scam so please don't call it that.

Yes, it seems someone from their company did leave a fake message to try to counter the effects of this post which only lessens their credibility. I was told they have only been in business since last November. Not everyone that makes a mistake is a scammer. :-)

I hate the domain sales spam I get all the time from different companies and people, but rather than complain or post about it, I report the spammers just like I would if they were selling v|agra or other junk. If you don't like spam, report it, don't just post on forums because that really doesn't help to stop it ( If you want to learn how to correctly report spam to get the spammer's accounts close, please send me a PM. ).

I have offered to work with ekodomains to help them understand the problems they are having. If I can, I hope they can help me sell some of my domains. If not then at least I shouldn't get any more domain sales spam. :-)

Are you serious, before you decide to dump your bullshit here and make up excuses for this scam company gets your facts straight.

This company has been emailing people and offering them domains for purchase with out owning or having rights to do so.

Example,

I own Dog.com and they email me and offer me Dogs.com with out having right to auction or sell Dogs.com and dogs.com never dropped so what part of this scam is not clear to you?

The scumbags have been reported on dnforum as well.

I'm glad you mentioned facts, because I have not seen any proof that someone has lost money from this "scam" as you call it. Has anyone?

All the domains they have contacted me about they owned, because I checked the whois. There might have been one that did not drop yet, but that does not mean they are running a scam and will take money for a domain they cannot deliver on.

Show me proof of someone losing money and I'll call them scammers also.

Falsely claiming that you will claim your registrar is in the process of acquiring a domain name that you have not been given right to acquire and email me and others about it and ask for an offer or payment is a scam.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=692557

I emailed the owner of the domain and he was not aware of any company acquiring his domain name and it was registered to 2019 and developed and being used by a company that has no interest in selling their domain name. You folks on namepros have nothing better to do then troll threads that you like to talk trash. This guy is a scam artist claiming one thing and then doing another. All it takes is one innocent Domainer or Person to make payment for a domain that doesn't exist and he walks with money that can't be traced.

If a namepros member post my domain for sale in any of the threads and request offers on it with out my permission that automatically is a red flag. Not only did this scumbag ask me in several emails to make an offer on a domain he had no right to sell, he also did not reply back to my emails asking him why he has emailed me about a domain he has no right to sell or accept offers for, since the domain is registered to a multi million dollar company who has their domain registered to 2019.

This guy is nothing but a scam artist and more complaints have been filed on dnforum.... lets not get into trolling this thread and make him the nice guy.

I agree 100% about the spam. But did you report them or ask them to stop?

But I have not seen any proof that they are offering domains with intent to defraud, just one person saying they are.

I have unsubscribed in the past, and the emails still come in, or a new "company" is formed to send out the same template.

First it was EkoReference.net, now it is EkoDomains.com

I have received 7 emails in the last week relating to 3 different domains.

Both templates look just like the InTrust spam emails, which are using the same tactics.

They are offering domains for sale that they do currently not own. That is a fact.

Their tactics are spammy and scammy, to say the least.

Brad

I report them every time I receive the emails. The last email I received from them, was for a plural domain that was not even registered. lol. I could have registered it if I wanted it, but I didn't. I wasn't interested in it.

First thing you can do, is check their whois info. It's fake. Feel free to report this violation to ICANN and they may delete their domains.

I am not sure how anyone can defend this spam machine that is offering domains for sale that they do not own. If they were not doing anything wrong they would not need many domains, fake whois details, etc.

gosh this is an interesting one..... and I would break it down like this:

1) Whether or not it is a "scam" depends on whether they are asking for PAYMENT (rather than just feeling out the market/interest in the domain asking for offers) for domains they are "about" to acquire... and, has anyone confirmed that they paid for a domain but did not receive it?

2) the legality/ethics of soliciting domains that a person/business does not ALREADY own .... but, then again, there are at least a few successful and esteemed members here and on DNF that do just this (ie contacting endusers about domains they are in private auctions for at snap, namejet etc). Whether you or I agree with the tactic, unfortunately plenty are doing just this although perhaps not on this scale.

3) spam..... I, thankfully (i think) have not received any of these letters but from the posts above it certainly looks to be a spam tactic that should be reported.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=692557

4) credibility of company..... like mentioned above, if this person/"company" really IS legit and the service is safe and fair it really IS very suspicious that they resort to using fake whois and such a variety of domains to send from.

curious to see where this goes and thanks for bringing this person/company to light, Hope!

Thanks for the sane and reasonable post, Slim.

As far as I can tell, the WHOIS for EkoDomains.com is accurate and not the same information as the other domain that was listed. Can you match IP addresses or anthing else to confirm they are the same?

I called them on the phone number listed on the whois for EkoDomains.com and on their site. i could tell right away from the 518 area code it was in New York state because that used to be my area code as a kid.

Spam is not going to cost you money like a scam will. Please do not equate them as being the same thing as it is confusing for newbies and those that don't know English well.

I think this thread has received more of my attention than it should have. If stated my opinion on the matter and have not seen any posts that offer facts that would change it. I'm unsubscribing now, but if you can provide some proof of a scam, fraud, or other wrongdoing by those connected with the domain EkoDomains.com, send me a PM and I will be glad to say you are right.
