![]() | Name Business Solutions LLC I was contacted tonight by a man from a company called "Name Business Solutions LLC" that said he had a client that was interested in buying my domain. I am very new to domaining so I do not know how these things "go down" usually, but I would just like to know if anyone has heard of this company before and if they are legit or not? He has not been asking me to use any appraising service yet, and if he does I will not use it. He has asked me what my asking price for the domain is, and I do not know what to tell him since I haven't done this before. The domain name is wtfbit.com, and I do know this isn't a great domain name but it might be of use to someone. Can I set an asking price of $100+ since he has actually sought out the domain? Appreciate any help you can give me. Hope this is in the right category. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/warnings-and-alerts/690227-name-business-solutions-llc.html /Zhirgoyt |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you reply and he offers you to an appraisal service, it's a scam.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Considering your domain, and that you were approached by someone to do with domaining who said it was on behalf of a client... I'm 95% sure it will turn out to be an appraisal scam. 'WTF bit' makes no real sense except as an incidental part of a sentence, like 'WTF bit me while I was out walking!' That appears to be the only use for this name whatsoever and I highly doubt some corporate, or even small, client would ask a professional (and legit) domain broker to open a buying process with you. It's possible, but very very unlikely. If someone is interested enough to ask a broker to do the domain acquisition for them, then they have a little money to spend and, just in case, I'd ask around $500 for the name. If it is a legit broker and that price is too much, it won't scare them off because they are used to negotiating. Tell them a high price because you won't lose anything by it. But I'd be willing to bet money it's appraisal scam. Just smells like it, there are a few clues. The good news is I googled 'name business solutions llc' and there seems to be no prior posts about this entity being involved with a scam, or with anything actually. Which doesn't mean anything other than it may simply be a new signature some old scammer has switched to... it's certainly no registered company or online presence. The bad news is, that's one of the clues... that term is similar to other long, corporate-sounding terms these scammers invent to make themselves seem legit. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=690227 GL, let us know how it plays out.

![]() | Well, thanks alot for the input. I really appreciate it. I suspected this to be a scam since, as you mentioned, the name ain't that good. I was thinking bit as either a bit of something, video or otherwise, or byte-sounding, but it just didn't work out. I sent a reply telling him I wasn't sure of the price yet. Then I asked him how long thinking time I had. If I do not get a reply like: "I know a great apprasial-service that you can use." I'll probably tell him I'm looking to get $500 and see what response I get. I'll keep you posted.

Reason: Spelling errors, since I'm a stupid swedish person.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just wondering, if your domain name "ain't that good" from your own appraisal, then why did you buy that domain in the first place? Do you have any use for it? Aren't you happy there's a buyer for that "crappy" domain? So how can one sell a "crappy domain" (like i was drunk when i bought it, now i just wanna get rid of it for a few bucks than letting it drop)? So a crappy domain buyer should never use a "broker" that would make the sales talk suspicious? ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=690227 I see a lot of crappy domains (in my view) that sold more than 500 bucks in the marketplace. Perhaps the sellers of those domains can't believe someone can be so stupid to pay them with that kind of moolah for such useless domains. |

![]() | Back to the email. I've gotten a reply from the "broker" and it turned out to be just what we (you) expected. Can you accept 10,000 usd for the following three names: wtfbit.com yawdo.com placeraters.com Our client has a 30,000 usd budget for several names. Have you had your domain names evaluated by certified valuation experts in the past? Even if your domain has no web site it's possible to appraise it. Without a valuation certificate our client cannot be sure in the sale price. Moreover, our accountant and tax services always ask for valaution certificates. On the other side, it's very important for him in terms of reselling too. Of course, we must engage an independent valuation company with a real manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources our client trust. We don't have certified experts in domain valuations and use independent reliable companies for appraisals. To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies. Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers: http://www.thenamepros.com/Archive/920184731.htm My response: Dear Ryan. $10,000 for those three domains is an extreme overprice, I cannot accept a bid over $3,000 dollars, since I am an honest human being. I do have my own appraisal service that I use, and I will send you a certificate when I have it. I use one of the best appraisal services there is, and I assure you your client will not be disappointed. I will be in contact with you in a few days. Thought the bold text was a nice touch. |

![]() | ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=690227 Why would you say that I am not honest? You don't even know me. Not very respectful. I did get a reply that made it even more clear that it was a scam, btw. Thanks to the people that actually contributed to my initial question. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Warning: Name-Business.com / Name Business Solutions LLC still operating This scammer has anothe thread under a different Title here: http://www.namepros.com/warnings-and...ent-group.html. This is the first time I was contacted by them and almost fell for their scam because it's very slick. Here is the message they sent:
After you pay for an apprasisal, then they lose interest and you are stuck with your domain and a WORTHLESSS apprasial that you had to pay for. IF YOU HAVE FALLEN FOR THIS SCAM, please do two things: 1) Read the main thread listed above and learn how YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK! Many people have gotten refunds either from the "appraisal" site or the payment processor. If you need help let me know, but all the info you need is in the other thread. 2) POST ABOUT THIS SCAM! We need everyone to post about it on many different sites and blogs so that more people can avoid this scam. ---------- Post added at 09:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:29 AM ---------- I just got off the phone talking with Godaddy Abuse and they are going to investigate. This and all other such emails should be reported as SPAM at the very least. If many people report them the chances that they will be shut down are much better. | ||||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ha, I just got one too. Here was my response: The price is $XXX, bank wire or escrow.com, and don't waste our time asking for an appraisal. Won't happen. Bet, check or fold. Regards, dnURLs.com

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Contacting your bank was a good idea, but I would contact the payment processor that was used (Plimus?) and let them know about the scam. If you have trouble getting a refund, let me know and I will try to help. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No problem. SWREG is actually located in my area. Once you provide them proof of the sequence of events and refer them to this thread, you should get your money back. To all: If an appraisal service warns you about this scam and you get the apprasial anyway, then you should not expect to get a refund. If they don't warn you, then they may be aware or a part of this scam. No domain owner should EVER pay for an appraisal for a buyer.
