Investigating deadbeat Web host - need access to WHOIS history ... ?

Hello

I found this site via Google and I'm trying to find who the owner of a .com domain was before 16th June 2010.

I'm not an IT pro so I don't know how to do this.

Can anyone help?

Worth trying if you don't have a paid Domaintools account. If you look up the domain on Who.is: Whois, Website, Domain Name, and IP Tools - Who.is and click the "Archive" button in the top navigation bar above the (current) WHOIS results, they occasionally have a older version of the contact details stored.

Thanks for your help, Spade. As I suspected, my web host cocked it up by not registering the domain in time!

I think this thread should be left open, for anyone else with the same problem.

is it worth it for me to buy a domain history database membership if the domain in question has a whois guard/domains by proxy guard on it? i just need to track down an email address for one particular domain.
