rpg.org STOLEN DOMAIN ALERT

NameSilo
Watch
Within the last few days rpg.org seems to have been taken from its rightfull owner.

On the 25th the seller posted the domain on this forum for sale. The sale has been pulled and the seller has been banned. The same day the domain was posted for sale the domain was updated.

I have sent an email to the owner of the domain (details provided by someone) as a confirmation to ensure this is 100% confirmed stolen. I am currently awaiting a response.

The seller had posted in 2 other threads requesting to know where a domain for sale is registered. If rpg.org has requested to know this ENSURE YOUR DOMAINS ARE LOCKED AND YOU HAVE SECURE PASSWORDS. Also take the precaution of ensuring the whois email is not the same email address as the registrar login.

More information will be posted in this thread as and when it is available.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Sure it is stolen.

I own rpg.org, and mmorpg-x.com as well, they have been stolen from me at a complex hacker attack on 18th February.

Hackers stolen my GoDaddy accounts, and immediatelly transferred domains to another registrar.

Police issue is in progress, I contacted local police, and InterPol, but it takes time.

Anyone who knows informations about the current "sellers" please send the infos to [email protected] to help the investigation.

Thanks
Ggot

Err I'm in contact with someone trying to sell me the domain - how do I know if it's the real owner or not? He is willing to sell by Escrow, they say they're the real owner of the domain, they're asking for a realistic price, and somehow he/she knows what my username is here and what sites I own.

The last time I spoke with the original owner he didn't think he would be getting the domain back. This was last week.

Regarding info about you he has probably amassed the information browsing about Namepros. He could well have another account but has not been found yet. He has had 3 accounts I know of on DNF.

Seeing the links in your sig he may think you would be interested purely on the fact it is related to domains you already own.

I received the following email from the original owner on the 11th (i'm sure he won't mind me posting especially as it has no private information):-

Unfortunately, there has been no progress on the domain. I am sure
that it is lost.

He knew of my link building blog (linkative.com) before I ever even posted a thread about it here.

And say the domain is "lost"...the owner cannot recover it? So then is it still safe to buy?

when he says it is lost he means that it is unlikely he is going to be able to recover it. It is still a stolen domain regardless of whether he is going to be able to recover it or not.

Alright thanks. When it comes to domaining, there are no morals IMO. But anyway I guess I will stay in contact with this guy...there's no way for me to tell if he's the original owner or not but the domain is his. There's also no proof that he stole it from what I can tell...maybe the owner before him tried to be fraudulent and take the domain back without success? You never know with people these days...he could just be making stuff up?

Basically I'm just saying it's hard to know what the truth is on a he-said she-said basis.
For this domain, if it was stolen, I'd imagine someone would pursue legal action, but that apparently isn't happening.

ok if it is a case of he said shes said why did he start by trying to sell the domain for $10,000 (with a BIN of $75,000 posted on this forum but thread now in a private section) to now trying to sell the domain for between $80-$100 (reported from multiple members)?

If you do not trust the authenticity of the stolen domain report why not ask him for traffic stats from 3 months ago.

Also explain why the domain was transferred and IMMEDIATELY up for sale.

These are answers you and I do not know. And the price the seller gave me isn't anywhere in the $xxx range it's $x,xxx+...what he's asking.

I just received a PM from Vbradley trying to sell RPG.org for $500. Here's the PM:

"Hi there,
I saw you were bidding on MZK.com
I'm selling RPG.org, asking $500 BIN.

Let me know if you are interested.

RPG.org (role playing game)"

I told him/her that it was stolen and to prove that he/she owned it. Here's the response I got back:

"It's not. The guy who sold it to me is now trying to get his domain back by claiming it was stolen. How do you want me to try and prove it?"

Be very careful!

Account now closed.

Vbradley I know you have been looking at this thread. If you are so adamant you are not in the wrong post in the closed account section with proper proof of ownership.
