almost got my paypal account stolen

Today i got this e-mail from what looks like paypal's client service, it says that my account was accessed by a third party and that i need to confirm my ownership to this account luckily i have an anti phishing software installed on my computer which alerted about the link that i clicked on which takes you to paypal.com-o.us u can see the .us extension. so if you get an e_mail from service@-paypal.com with the subject "Notification of Paypal Limited Account Access" don't fall for it coz it has been reported as a web forgery.

this is a copy of the e-mail i got.

Quote:

PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding

We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party.

Case ID Number: PP-488-564-611

For your protection, we have limited access to your account until
additional security measures can be completed. We apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause.

Account access will remain limited until this issue is solved. If you are
the rightful holder of the account, please click on the title bellow and
log in to your PayPal account.

Respond to this Notification

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand
that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your

Actually, anybody with any sense would go to the website, log in and see if their account is limited. You should NEVER Reply to an email if asks for confidential information, go to the website of the company and contact them via that. It's so easy to fake headers in emails now

Paypal always addresses you by your name in legitimate emails.

So if you see "Dear Paypal customer," or something similar, you can be sure it's fake.

Exactly, ignore any emails from PayPal, if it sounds urgent, just login on PayPal.com and see if you can find the information on the site, call support if necessary.

I never open emails from PayPal that i don't expect, only PayPal email i open is the occasional payment receipt, etc. But i know that's arriving.

I got a phishing email last night from "eBay", supposedly from a customer who said they never got my item and it was all legit links except for the one "login" link.

My policy is never do anything on the emergency basis

Paypal always gives you 10 days or so limit for an answer.

In hurry you could mess up a bit. So first thing is to close the stuff. Forget it if it was not like

Dear "Business Name" << For business accounts

Autism
I got an email the other day that basically was a copy of the email paypal set notifying me of there new changes. It didnt ask to login, just provided a link to a page that I assume looked like the paypal page.

I receive so many phishing emails these days its a joke. I seem to get about an average of one per hour, So around 24 a day.

I still wouldn't click any of the links, I always log in to the account
the email is from and check it that way.
That's how I've always done it, sometimes it's hard to tell
if it's real or not, so I just don't take the chance.

One click is all it takes!
