If it's a bigger company, people usaully trust it more. The scammer is probably just trying to use YAHOO to get you to trust the email more. None the less, it is a scam.

I noticed 2 things dodgey about it.

1. It contained an address in london, not in Las Vegas.
2. The email was to a netscape account, surely the email would be @yahoo..

LMAO I was going to suggest calling them but I've just looked at the numbers.

The 2 phone numbers are either mobile phone numbers or just a front with your call actually being forwarded to another number.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=278935
The 2 fax numbers are "national rate" numbers, meaning you get charged more than usual and the person you're calling gets the extra fee.

Either way you're paying much more than a normal phone call.

You just don't get clever, believable scams nowadays.

I never noticed the UK number, but that is also a problem which this scam has, why would yahoo use a UK number, wouldnt it make more sense to have a cheap or toll free US number?

To me this is the BIGGEST alarm of the scam:

Yeah right, the money is coming from Africa...

070 numbers are personal numbers rather than mobile numbers- like those offered by YAC- they cost a bit to ring- in the format 070xx, the xx will usually represent different charge bands and carriers. I think most will cost £0.50+. The good news is that the person you're calling doesn't (shouldn't) get any of the 50p/m (re: (Offcom) and if they're diverting calls to a mobile they have to pay 10p/m for the priviledge.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=278935

What's more likely is that somebody from outside the UK has purchased one of these from one of the many websites offering them and diverted them to their home city- e.g. Lagos. The Register had a bit on this recently.

I thought, and the Offcom link above all suggests that, you cannot get an 070 number from outside the UK. I hope so, because that'll reduce the number of targets who could respond by a huge percentage...
