An unfortunate event

Well well, I did not exactly got scammed or phished, there is no money involved in this matter either. This matter has more to do with trustworthiness and keeping the word.
XtremeWebhost was shut down a few months ago. In order to relaunch the hosting they setup a revenue generating site which gave out gmail invites. Being a former member at XtremeWebhost, I recieved an email from them with the following:
Quote:
Anyone who emails me //contact email\\, with their website having a link to the gmail inviter will get a free paid plan when we launch, happy days! ENJOY GMAIL, AND WE WILL BE COMING BACK SOON!
Taking it as an opportunity on the doorstep, I went and linked the gmail inviter on my blog and informed the concerned person. In a few minutes I got a reply saying:

Dear Abdul,

Great! When xtreme-webhost re-launches you will be a complimentary paid hostee!
I was like, O.K. and one day I got an email saying XTREMEWEBHOST IS BACK! All in bold and big font. I quickly went and joined the forum, made a couple of posts, everything was going ok so far. Then I PM'd the Administrator there asking for how will my situation be handled because there was no mention of the linking offer in any announcements or other forums. I didnt get a solid reply there. I went on and added the Administrator to my MSN contact list and found him online. We had a nice little chat and he told me that once the maintainance is complete he will do something about my account too. I was like "I dont mind" because I was not in any urgent need for a hosting, neither am I right now. Eversince that day, I didn't see him online. Not a word from him. To make things even worse, I cant even use the xtremewebhost website. It shows the mainpage of the forum but as soon as I enter my username/password and click login, it gives a Site Not Found error. I asked two of my local friends whom I can trust to login with my account details and see if there is any PM in my account... NOTHING. I found another MSN id, it was the exact person that confirmed I was getting a paid account, I had a little chat with him too but as soon as I spoke of the offer and account, there was dead silence.

I am not in any need of hosting, if these guys cant afford to dish out hosting for me then they must atleast say it. I am not going to go ballistic and start defaming them, or file a lawsuit, etc. I am just not the kind of person who likes trouble. I am not going to start begging them for a hosting account, I already have enough hosting to suit my needs (my blog), I am hosted on the same server since 2003 and I am happy with my host. It's the first time that I have dealt with a bunch of dishonest people, now I can feel how others around here feel about being lied/cheated/scammed.
