ya know.. i like animals.. would never hurt one.. but these things very often are a necessary evil in order to progress...
I dont agree with peta's mission of putting animals before progress or human health and safety.. which they do by protesting animal testing. and while i agree..some of the things are horrifying.. I ask.. what worse, a child dying of cancer or an animal being experimented on in attempts to find a cure?
the way peta portends things to be.. its like they think these guys do it for kicks.
thats even more evil than the reasons they have to do them. Peta needs to stfu for once and be realists, idealism only carries you so far bro.. and peta..like the aclu, gets so caught up in their own little reality..they ignore the greater reasonings.
I agree to a point.. we do need to be realistic.. however, I think most animals deserve better than they get. We may have dominion over animals, but it doesn't mean we have the right to mistreat them.
I'm not much of a PETA fan either but they do make some good points. Such as... the condition under which these animals are kept while they are awaiting testing. Very social animals (e.g. dogs, monkies) are typically isolated and kept caged 24/7.
And, I think it cruel to abuse animals for the sake of human vanity... e.g. cosmetic testing, the fur industry.
Like most things in life, animal testing has its own forms of good and evil. It's important not to ignore or mistake one for the other.

p.s. Check out a new release, I think it's called "Something God Made." Not specifically about animal testing but testing plays an interesting and necessary role.
Stuff like this I see really is sad, the way I see it is yes finding cures and such should be done but in a more respectful way. Now they dont even need to use animals in most cases as they can clone things but some people find this more inmorale, for some reason. Ok if animal testing has to be done they should follow the laws which are put in place and give the animals some freedom instead of being locked up in a boring ass cage. Also most of the guys working in these places are real assholes. More needs to be done about these situations, yet it is down to the animals we have found cure for all these terrible diseases and we still treat them with no respect what so ever.
