| Clothes Make The Man... Publishing a photo unthinkable only a few years ago, Britain's The Sun featured a front cover pic of Saddam Hussein in his underwear ( http://www.davidgridley.com/media/8.jpg). I guess that answers the "boxers or briefs" debate...
He's not so scary now, is he?

| Well, at first glance it's "funny".. then we begin to see what a mistake it is on many levels... despite his reputed crimes, as a head of state and POW, he should still be accorded a bit of common decency and privacy.
Already the backlash has started and the US is very concerned with the origins of those pics. |

| Right this minute, I'm watching this story on my local news. They say an investigation has begun to find out who took the pictures, and who supplied them to "The Sun". They (The Sun) claim the U.S. military supplied them. The U.S. military says they didn't, and they also say these pictures are a serious violation of his rights, and possibly even violate the Geneva Convention.
Here we go.... |

| They are a violation of the Geneva Convention, IMHO. Those rules apply to everyone, and if indeed the Miliary provided/took the photo, then it would be the second time such a thing has occured.
I was watching CNN right now, and they said it's the third thing that has gone wrong this week. First, there was the report of flushing pages of the Quran down the toilet by staff at Guantanamo Bay. Second, this case, and another aligation regarding a US base camp in Afghanistan.
But certainly, this is a serious thing, IMHO. The Geneva rules apply and should be applied whether it's dealing with a person off the street or a tyrant.
My opinion.

| The Sun (big paper here) indeed got them from an American official.
Was a nice thing to see this morning though. Nice pants.
Still, its still unfair as he should be treated in a decent way. If a regular criminal was on the front, people would complain. Although, he wont ever have a life after prison so I guess no harm done. |

Should be given worse then this, Much worse. Why should this sort of man be given hes rights, Hes lucky to still be alive. |
