I Just Don't Get It?

I see all these online dating ads and think to myself,What's the problem? First off if i were'nt married and was looking to date.I would much rather meet someone in the park,Grocery store,Attending funtions ect.Maybe people are anti social today?? They seem to rather meet someone via the internet and blind dating and things of that nature.Am i missing something here? I've been married for 21 years. But i would much rather meet someone the natural old fashioned way,Introduce yourself and get know someone.Iam not totally against the internet dating thing don't get me wrong,But has it come to the point where people trust a person more that they meet on the internet or via blind date?? Should'nt it be the opposite?? People are weary of people at stores and funtions and stuff,But feel more comfortable meeting someone on the net or a total blind date?? Help me understand this folks.

I don't understand it myself.. but I met my current girlfriend 3 years ago online in a health-related chat room. We talked online and on the phone for a year.. she flew out to Virginia Beach to meet me, I returned the favor by flying out to Nebraska to visit her... not long after we decided to move in together and have been together two years now after buying a house in SW Missouri (she wanted out of Nebraska and we decided on MO because there was a job opening for her).

Honestly, if someone had told me 4-5 years ago that I'd be here under these circumstances, I'd have said they were crazy!

True.. in fact, we couldn't be more different individuals.. there's actually very little we have in common! We seem to get along pretty well most of the time, never had a fight! (knock on wood) I expect I try her patience much more often than she tries mine, lol!

If we hadn't met online.. we'd have never gotten together. She simply isn't normally "my type" and I'm sure she could do better than I, lol!

Personally I prefer the old fashion way of heading down to the pub, getting shit faced and wait to see who you wake up with.

I think is a great idea, it is a way to look at the menu before buying "so to speak".

It allows you to dig deep into the intelect of the person before replying , going out etc which at times will then lead to the typical meeting in the park etc.

It is at times more safe and find out if this person is your potential mate.

LOL....I see were your coming from,But what kind relationship is it called??

You don't know if a person has a bogus name and all the info,I can be a millionaire and look like your favorite movie star hunk on the net.But if you met someone say...At the airport,Talked with them a little,Exchange phone numbers and take it from there,Would'nt that be a better option than the net?

Yes, of course, but it allows for privacy too, some are shy, and fear rejection, being rejected online is far less embarassing than in person, there are many reasons.

Although my experience was negative.

I guess what iam thinking is this,It depends on the person,On the net that person can be what they wanna be if they choose to,I don't do that,But have seen many that have done it for whatever reason i don't know,But in the airport,You are seeing a real person and would know much sooner if you had any attraction to that person,Get a feel for that persons personality ect?? Kinda cutting to the chase so to speak? Is it possible that society is just becoming anti-social?

I am not sure about anit-social but either party can post a picture, picutures now on the net, physical attraction is just one way and intelect another.

I remember I experienced dating on the net when AOL first came out, and it was only by way of messages, early to mid 90s.

At the time I was in college and did not have time, plus it allows you to narrow down your preference. I was looking for a more older mature man other than what or who I was going to college with.
