Camcorder Review

I am wondering if anyone here has recently purchased a camcorder in the $150-$250 price range and if so what do you think of it ??

It seems to be a minefield of information so i thought it may be prudent to read some real peoples thoughts and comments ??

Sony? Jvc? Panasonic? ....etc ??

..cheers

My preference is the Sanyo Xacti series.. small with some great features.

I haven't priced them in awhile but have purchased the older C4 and CG6 models for under $50 on eBay. There are, of course, newer and more expensive models in the series, including waterproof, but those older models served my needs well.

I think the Sanyo Xacti CG10 (available used around $100) is easily a comparable camcorder both in form & function.. look them up on ebay or Amazon. Just my opinion, of course..

Yeah i did have a quick look and have now gone sideways and i am thinking i may go for something different such as the canon legria fs36 which seems to offer some good features , as you say a sanyo for about $100 is pretty good but i have a slighty bigger budget so i am going to try get as much bang for my bucks as possible.

Thanks for your time .....repped !

Sure.. I was just trying to stay below your $150 min.

I guess I prefer some of the older cams because they are generally better made than this year's cams.. most of which have plastic shells, lenses, etc.

Haven't looked at newer cams much but modern tech from year to year continues to cut corners in manufacturing and you end up paying for it one way or another.

At present, the 2mp cam in my phone has been working for me I eventually want a pocket cam with remote.

The popular market leading 'flip camcorder' manufacturers decided to close shop because smart phones would overtake them

And that makes sense.. are you going to carry a pocket cam if your phone does an equal or better job?
