Aakash Tablet something Great or Paper weight

When Aakash Tablet was introduced as LCAD(Low cost access device) with subsidized cost near to 35$ for college kids throughout India,a few people mentioned, its a vaporware. Now, everybody knows it's not vaporware certainly, however early adopters has expressed disappointment with performance of Aakash Tablet PC in Government has made a forecaste that there is massive market of 22 crores Akash Tablet and so they may choose new manufactures for this project.

From domain traders(and website entrepreneurs) perspective, success from the tab will lead enormous internet enabled population, for most of them, it may be only internet access device. What's you take?

I think this will have a big effect getting more people online and also getting more people able to read. The tablet is made to work with icons for people who can't read, yet.

Child Abuse
It's got to happen, Aakash or not. India will go online in a big way. The question is, will the government let us domainers keep our .in domains when the demand suddenly takes off for them?

I don't think the low per unit price is a selling point anymore.. there are a few tablets with similar capabilities that could conceivably match that. I've seen the Pandigital Star selling around $70, only $10-$20 more than the actual projected retail price for Aakash. $35 is only a manufacturing cost, not retail.

And when you consider that a large percentage of the US population still lacks decent internet access, just making a budget tablet available in India won't work unless they also have access at home or easy, free access elsewhere.
