Please justify your asking price!

The thing that really gets my hackles up is Sedo’s “Please justify your asking price” quote that is used extensively by lowballers and noobs who’ve probably never run a business and with this attitude probably never will run a successful one either.

You are the one making the offer, if you find the asking price too high, cancel negotiation, don’t ask me to ‘justify my asking price’.

Do you ask Ford to justify the price of their cars when you go to a dealer to purchase one?
Yeah, no kidding!

At the same time, they are just trying to get a deal even if they aren't being smart about it.

I once had the standard $60 offer then I counter with high xxx , then they countered with only $75 I was so mad they only bumped it $15 I cancel negotiations with them. I later saw the “Please justify your asking price” and realised they where just bumping up the bid to comunicate with me. So I now am not so quick to cancel.

Them asking questions is ok with me, it's their reaction to my answers that I may not like.

I just had a deadbeat bidder bid $$$ then 5 mins later bumped the bid up by $25 and asked me "to justify asking price". I hadn't seen the msg and I accepted the bid .... the deadbeat bidder never paid.

SEDon't took at over a month to cancel the sale and give me their personal info.

True Tia, but there usually is a huge discrepancy in the offer price and the price I quote, which makes asking for justification stupid.

I either don't respond or cancel, you can't buy a Ferrari by offering the price of a beat up jalopy. If that's all they can afford they should be looking at jalopies, not sports cars. There are 1000s of available domains which could be registered for 10 years for $100, they should get one of those instead.

I don't even bother with deadbeats, not worth the time mostly.

True, but there are also more than a few sellers on Sedo (and elsewhere) asking Ferrari prices for their Jalopies, which is probably why they have that option.

I don't remember if anyone's ever asked me that, but I wouldn't be offended.
