upgrading a laptop hard drive help

hello

im wanting to upgrade my laptop hard drive and i just wondered if this mean i would need to reinstall windows and if my recovery disk i have now would still work

I believe you would need to install windows again. Your recovery disk would work that same as it does now. The OS is the same.

How about if you made an exact copy of your old hard drive?

i want to uprade my hard drive from 20gb to 80gb and i have windows xp but i dont have a disk as windows xp comes built in on the hd i have now would i need to buy a new one?
