[Debate] IE or FireFox ??

which is better IE or FireFox?? you decide! in this debate

My Opinion

Definitely FireFox!! Using IE is like being naked, walking on the streets and not even knowing about it..

Using IE exposes you to a ton of exploits, security flaws, etc such as porno dialers which i hate the most!!! I have one right now!!! and other stuff like popups, etc..

Make the switch

FireFox, no contest!!

Firefox is more secure, blocks more adds, has more features I want, and actually use compapred to IE. I could go on and on.....

Firefox is definately the best, I made the switch from IE just recently. My browsing speeds are up about 50% and I love the tab option, right now I have about 20 windows open in IE that wasn't possible.

I use firefox also. It is the best, A while back i used Opera, it has it's flaws. IE isn't a bad explorer however it's just the most concentrated on by hackers.

My 2 cents.

I still use IE because I can't get used to Firefox, which I find to be more of a pain than a godsend to switch. The same reason I really can't seem to get used to Photoshop 7. It might be better, but I can't get anything done on it as compared to 6. Firefox, despite all the hype, has a long way to go to convince the 97% that are still using IE.

It took me a good long while to make the transition. I have been using Smart Explorer (a tabbed version of IE) for several years and some things on Firefox just felt a little unnatural at first. I've been using both IE and Firefox for the past three months.

With FF I hated how Google search box would open in the current tab, and how clicking on external links would open new instances of Firefox instead of opening a new tab. Well, I've finally figured out how to configure it all just how I like it using about:config and adding new extensions. So as of LAST WEEK, I'm exclusively using Firefox!

Woop!

Well, you can
a) Right click on the link and then click open in new tab
or
b) click on the link with the scrolling wheel of your mouse (if you have one)

I use firefox however, most sites are best compatible with IE, so it's best to get an IE based software maybe.

If the site doesn't work or load correctly in Mozilla/Netscape/FireFox, screw it. IMHO, if it doesn't, the webmaster/s needs to learn a thing or two.

Coming to you via Firefox. Just downloaded, and seems much snappier than IE.
Have used Thunderbird, (also open source), as email client and like it. Have also gone from WIN OS to Mac, so the distance between me and M$N becomes more complete w/ each passing day.

However, I am getting some weirdness.
I opened up the NP Smiley Box and when I closed it, the Smiley Scrollbar remained. Every post on this thread now has a Smiley scrollbar w/o the rest of the Smiley box!

Make that a Smiley scroll on every posting field on every thread at the NP site. Will log out and return to see if that resolves the prob.
Ugh- still have it. Have I become a magnet for system glitches, or what?!! Sheesh!
Doesn't come up on IE, so looks like I'll stick w/ both for a while.
Maybe a Mac-Firefox compatibility issue??

I can't stand Firefox to be honest. Its so much slower than IE for one, and it loads pages in a completely different order than I want. What I mean by this is that IE loads up all of the text and displays it, and then starts loading the images. Firefox on the other hand loads in order of the html. I'd rather see the content before all of the images on the page.

And all of this vulnerability crap people bring up doesn't make sense either. I've used IE for as long as I've used computers and have never gotten spyware or viruses. You have to be smart when you surf the web. If something random pops up, don't click it.

I guess you just have to be smart to use IE.

I guess I am in the minority, but I can't stand firefox. The tab system is just annoying, in my opinion, and it is barely faster on my computer. Viruses have never been a problem with me, and IE, but I think that is also partially contributed to the anti-virus software I have installed. Also, I think it sucks that there is no Google Toolbar for Firefox
