I can't help but wonder if they even had searched the family's property
while all of this was happening. That simple procedure would have saved
a lot of manpower hours. They were even getting ready to send helicopters
with infra red cameras to check the ground along the path the balloon had
flew over. All this and the kid was hiding in the attic above the family's garage.
At least he's safe and well.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a little bit strange how good of a job that kid managed to do tracking an object moving 50kph? Glad everyone is alright but I must admit the whole incident almost comes across as "staged" to me. And with kids hiding from their parents for hours, parents taking their kids storm chasing, and high electricity gear not made inaccessible to children... Someone ought to call in the social workers imho.

The family was on Wife Swap -- they sure enjoy their limelight. It was definitely a publicity stunt.

They are looking to get a search warrant for the the family's premises. The parents were still
talking to investigators and are not under arrest.

I think the father will say "they did it for a show" meaning a weather chaser or UFo show. He is such a flake. What with the suggestion box?
