You should try http://promo.net/pg/ - it is a collection of free books - all the books that are out of copyright get converted onto here - you can find absolutely everything there and can read a lot of the classics for free as well as download them.
I hve just finished Icon by Frederik Forsyth and it was excellent - well worth a read.
Just finished "The Lords of Discipline" by Pat Conroy. An excellent well-developed plot, highly recommend it. By the end of the novel, you'll really be into it.
Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, the complete works of Sherlock Holmes, the Time Machine by H G Wells, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. All of these books are now in the public domain as an author's estate can only keep the copyright for up to 50yrs after their death. Then it is not able to be renewed unless there are extenuating circumstances - the main copyright that was succesfully renewed and that you will all know of was the rights to the original Mickey Mouse which the Disney estate succesfully renewed but I can't remember how they were able to.
I just read "The Cuckoo's Egg" by Clifford Stoll about a computer hacker in the '80s breaking into to all kinds of government/military computers & how they caught him. It was very interesting, since the internet hadn't become well known yet.
I also recommend "At the back of the North Wind" by George MacDonald & "til we have faces" by C.S. Lewis. 2 great fiction books by renowned Christian authors.
I just bought clavin & hobbes book as my younger sister's christmas present about a fortnight ago, very funny comic lol. I just finished reading the book "a house for mr. biswas" by V.S. Nanipaul. It is a highly recommended book, very nice storyline too.
Rob, Hahahaha! Tell me more about your "cloning me" then. *winks*
Flora.

I'd like to recommend a book - Mr. Majestyk by Elmore Leonard: I'm sure many people probably have seen the movie but the book on a whole is great.
You say you like to watch movies made from books. If the book was sent to be made as a movie it means the book was very good in terms of the writers writing in expressing the story. So any movie you've seen read the book also, you'll probably like it more and get a little more info than the movie because everyone know the movie version of a book is always different. Look at lord of the rings there's tons of info the movie left out, plus Saruman has an incident at the end, end of the movie, don't wanna sell it out, read the book.
Okay any of you guys really serious in having this club, or should we just use the thread to recommend books to read. Even if that is it. Please give a little info on why I should read the book, maybe I won't wanna read it.
Correction, Huge Correction It's - V.S. Naipaul - That's the Author's Name. I know the Guy. He's from Trinidad and Tobago though he isn't living there now!
