Need some iTunes help

Hey everyone..I am hoping someone here has experienced this problem before or can point me to a URL which can help me with this because I have come up empty handed.

I have an old laptop that I was using for some time and have an iTunes account on. I purchased a number of songs through itunes on that computer and got them just fine.
Since I got my new desktop now I want to get those songs onto my desktop. I login to my itunes account but cannot re-download any of the songs I purchased..

Does anyone know how I can go about getting the itunes songs downloaded onto my new computer? I still have my laptop here if I need to hook it up or anything.

Any input would be appriciated!

Log into your account on iTunes, then 'deauthorize' the previous computers. Then redownload.

Save a Life
Samuelhr, are you sure that will solve the problem? I don't think it will. According to iTunes policies (last time I read them), once you download the song, you will never be able to download the song again.

I think that your best bet would be to burn all of the songs that you purchased to CDs by Backing up your Purchase Songs. This is a new feature for iTunes version 8:
Go to File -> Library -> Backup to Disc. Then say that you want to backup only songs that you have purchased.

AFTER doing this, THEN deauthorize your laptop, then authorize your desktop for the same library, and then import the songs onto your desktop with the CDs.

Make sure to use CD-Rs and not CD-RWs. For music, a lot of times, the quality is not the same, and since you're moving things around digitally, you'll want to have the best quality on your desktop computer as possible.

Good luck,
David

Transfer all your music to your other PC. Import them into iTunes and authorize the PC.

You can still use the music on the laptop if necessary as well as you can have up to 5 PC's authorised at any 1 time.
