Some fun - what's your favorite metaphor for the domain industry?

Mine: digging for oil. We set up our wells based on the science of where there could be oil ($$$). However, the most likely places for a big score are already taken, and you'd have to pay a small fortune to buy one of those pieces of real estate. Sometimes you can spend little and set up a well that is less promising and still strike it big though. Other times noone has yet thought of a place that could be lucrative...but that's less likely as time goes on...and somehow extensions are like alternative fuels in their unpredictability and chance they'll never pan out

Enough out of me, what's your's?

For the best of Premium ones...

Rows, upon rows, upons rows of them; for as far as the eye can see. All seeded, grown, developed, cultivated, and harvested when ripe. Some will be of “Premium” quality; some “Select”; others, not suitable for the higher quality offerings, will be labeled as a more affordable “Good” quality. Though they could be picked by machine, the best quality ones are hand-selected and hand-picked and developed. Hand-picking ensures more consistency year after year, and doesn’t leave you with that ‘odd-word odd-word odd-word’.com aftertaste.

The best domains, like the best of the fine wines, are grown in the vineyards.

Of course….. my opionion is probably biased

This is more for domainers, but as a whole:

Buying pieces of virtual real estate: You will either get a mansion, or a shack.

I made that one up =3
