| If only you knew... | Site-Seal: Prove your NP Addiction I was just updating the site-seal for one of my domain's SSL (one of those "live" ones that displays the domain name scrolling by and a "live" clock animation to give it a legit-looking appearance), and this gave me an idea - The "show you're a proud NPer" site-seal. Static image example: Live example, using my username, and if clicked-on opens my NP profile page: https://img.mydomains.net/NP/Certifi...ct/example.php Webpage Code (where the "maximum" is my username & "22450" is my NP profile number - change both values accordingly in both places as shown in red below, unless you're claiming to be me and want a price on your head ):<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="https://download.macromedia.com/flash2/cabs/swflash.cab#version=4,0,0,0" ID=objects WIDTH=116 HEIGHT=88> <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="https://img.mydomains.net/NP/CertifiedAddict/seal.php?name=maximum&id=22450"><param name="loop" value="true"><param name="quality" value="high"><EMBED src="https://img.mydomains.net/NP/CertifiedAddict/seal.php?name=maximum&id=22450" WIDTH=116 HEIGHT=88 loop="true" quality="high" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="https://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></EMBED> </OBJECT> Note: The username will be stripped of anything other than A-Z, 0-9, underscore (_), or dashes (-). In addition, no check is done to make sure either the username or profile ID# is valid here at NamePros. The only check that is done outside the limitation/stripping of the username is that if the ID# is not numeric (any characters in it other than numbers) it pops-up a profile-page that is for an unregistered/non member (changes ID# to "0" if non-numeric). Not perfect here, but was fun to play around with, and just thought some might find it interesting This is just the type of crap I do when bored silly ![]() Now, if just to not get sued by -RJ- for tradmark violations (Note to staff: I can remove if need-be..lol)

| If only you knew... | Glad you like it If NP staff approve (since it contains NP name and logo), I can create Flash file of it with your name and ID# built-in, for you to host on your own site, when I have time

| Senior Member | WOW!!! Very cool! I like it alot. What happens though if I make a bad quality site, then embed this, instead of with my username, with MellowMasher's ID. Everyone would think she was horrible at webdesign

| If only you knew... | shockie, Removed your donut, seeing as how you are an apparent Flash-diabetic Quote:
Why did you have to go and pick on poor mellowmasher? That is always a risk, as Flash has no way of guaranteeing what webpage is "calling up" the script. This is even an issue with those SSL live seals (reason they display the domain-name so users know it is on right/legit domain). The problem is that the back-end of the flash (server-end that creates it) can only tell what domain is calling it up from what the browser itself says the URL of the page it is on. Some browsers lie (as do some proxies), and some allow no referer to be listed at all. This is a problem of browsers and referring-URL, rather Flash, plain html, or any other form of code. However, this issue can be somewhat resolved (I have done so now), by keeping a log of all referring pages (log keeps track of referring URL, username, and ID#) that called for the Flash seal. It isn't perfect (per my mention of limitations of browsers), but it will catch a lying webmaster if anyone notices, or I need to verify. Should I see a seal and don't think its legit (or any one does and ask me), I can see what username, ID#, and URL it was used on, and verify with the NPer who's username or ID# it belongs to if that is infact their site (with logs, can see this even after they remove seal from their site). This is only a temp solution --- If I were to make an issue of it (ie: You can only use the seal, per request), I could make it where only a set domain/domains could use a particular username/ID# combo; however, if the viewer's browser lied about your URL (or didn't send a referring URL at all), then the seal still wouldn't show even if displayed on your own (requested and approved) domain. Buggy browsers and proxies - got to love them ![]() Quote:
Also added the line "For fun only! NOT officially endorsed by NamePros.com ." to the seal's right-click menu (standard Flash settings)
