Why do people insist on ripping other's sites?
I've just sent an e-mail to them to see if they'll take my content down.

Yes, it's always best to try to contact the site owner first to find out the reason behind the offense.

If you don't hear back from them or they refuse to modify the site, you can as a last resort find out who their webhost is and send them a notice that they are hosting a site that violates your copyrights and request that their web hosting account is suspended.

If they just changed the $1.75/1000 Visitors Boxes that it would be all good in My Opinion.

i cant see the rip, the design is different, but they both appear to use the same script, maybe the script can be bought some where?

Not only is the design heavily inspired, they have copied the text word for word. Read the descriptions on the main page, then click through to each other page, including the "about", "special offer" and "faq" pages. It's copied directly from my site.

as far as the the design, the two boxes on the front are very familiar, as far as everything else, i believe they are both resellers of a bigger website traffic stie which would be why the content is the same

nah, you could look up 1,000 reseller's who use the same network services, and none of then have the same text. I wrote that text on the page, and created the design for visitorsdirect. In no way has their site used "reprint rights" to the text that appears on their site. They did a simply copy/paste, and violated my copyrights in the process.

The reason I said "never mind" up there is because at first I didn't see the rip either, and said "I dont know what youre talking about" because the designs are different enough to not be considered a rip, but then I actually read the text.

The pages are all still basically the same, the right-hand side with the order boxes and information boxes. The descriptions are basically word for word.

Yeah, i'm upset about it. However, the new version of Visitors Direct will be out within the next 30 days. Then I'll take care of this issue for good.

The TEXT *was* ripped, and now it's been changed, and the design is NOT a rip. The only reason you think its a rip is because the text was the same too so you know they were looking at your site for "inspiration" but if it was a rip then they would've used all the same images and stuff.

Yes, I do realize that. However, the site was far too similar to not be considered a rip. (though I know a rip is the use of the exact same images as the original site). If I created a clone of cnn, microsoft, or namepros, i'm sure all 3 of those parties would take measures to have the "rip" taken care of.

Anyways, I'm glad that he has changed the text somewhat. It's a small token in the right direction

I don't condone copying content of course, but imitation is a form of flattery. Consider it a complement, as long at the graphic and design are not directly copied.
