| Its about the right combination of on page elements with inbound links pointing to your site. If youre comfortable posting your URL
(I think that is ok?), I can help you out. Plus others can read and learn also. |

| They key to getting in search engines successfully is getting good quality links from already indexed sites. Promote your site and request link exchanges with other webmasters in your area. Once the search engines' crawlers visit those sites they will find the link to your site and crawl it accordingly. There's no guarantee that using the "Submit your URL" form in the mayor players will get your site in the index anytime soon.
Also, if you've got a quality site, submit it to the different available directories such as DMOZ or Zeal (this last one will let you submit non commercial sites only for free). These databases usually serve as seeds for many other services and search engines, so getting your site listed there is always a plus.
Focus in the mayor players, in my experience Google, Yahoo, MSN and maybe two other minor players account for 95% of the results in my server referrer logs. |

| Development / content / links help to get your sites on the S/E's, IMHO. You can also submit your sites to the various S/E's, or pay someone to do this for you, as well. There are tips to getting your site(s) ranked higher - your "first that pop up after typing in ..." - called "SEO" or "Search Engine Optimization" techniques. There are also "Sponsored Links" to the upper right within Google searches ... these are Google Adwords™, a targeted (sending target visitors to your site with the related search terms) cost-per-click type of pricing option. Overture offers a similar platform!
It's really not my forte, but I'm sure you'll get a LOT of great, useful information here in response to your inquiry.
All the best!
