Need a break from the working, walking, and standing required by the demanding and stressful life you lead?
Well, pack your bags for Houston because NASA wants to pay you $17,000 to stay in bed for 90 straight days.
The bed-rest experiment, to take place in the Human Test Subject Facility of Johnson Space Center, is designed to allow scientists to study some of the effects of microgravity on the human body. We read on the Bed Rest Study website:
Participants will spend 90 days lying in bed, (except for limited times for specific tests) with their body slightly tilted downward (head down, feet up). Every day, they will be awake for 16 hours and lights out (asleep) for 8 hours.

dang, 5k a month for laying in bed would have been a god way to make some money....but on the other side, i prefer to get up every morning where one of my dog sticks his tongue in his my ear so that i jump out of the bed :-)....
I wonder how NASA can afford $17,000 for this experiment...must of got a grant.
As someone said, I think they should cover all health care costs if needed after the experiment is over. The $17,000 doesn't sound like much if there's a chance of health problems later. It would be very boring for 3 months.

if it means 3 months in bed ..without getting a chance to walk around or even get outta bed..more like a coma person.. i think i can go crazy like dat..
Ummm, I heard about this years ago! The only problem is after the 'work' , your body is poor shape needing lots of working out to rebuild the muscle. Is it worth it? Try a sleep study first.
