I've talked to a few people who are going to the LT conference or will be in town for the WSOP main event... I'm trying to put together a poker game for domain names. Please PM me or email me at dutchboyd@tmail.com if interested. Also send what you'd be willing to put up. What I envision is we all put up a certain amount's worth of domain names and have a tournament-style NL Holdem game and then after we'll have a draft with the order and number of picks being determined by tournament. We'll have to come up with a way to value domains so that everybody is putting up roughly equal value.
Anyway, this could be a fun way to network with other domainers and maybe win a diamond. If it's successful, I'd kind of like to have this be a regular thing during the different domainer/developer conferences that pass through Vegas.
Just for information:
Dutch Boyd is a well known professional poker player, does not mean he has to win, but perhaps a handicapping system would be more fair.He is fair enough to post under this name though.
Also he was involved in the pokersite "Pokerspot.com", which went down in a dubious way. Not judging anything, people should just know what they could be up against and decide then.
Yes, I guess I should have mentioned that I was a well-known poker player. I guess I kind of assumed if you're into poker, you would know who I was. I won't be the only poker pro at the game, as a couple other pro friends including Brett Jungblut (2004 Omaha/8 bracelet winner) and Joe Bartholdi (2006 WPT Champion) have been registering poker-related and misc names with me for awhile. They will probably be playing as well. If you're looking for a soft game, this won't be it.
But we won't be playing for super high stakes and this is more for networking and for fun than trying to win a ten thousand dollar domain name, although I'm sure there will be good names.

ps - There's no way in hell we're doing a handicapping system.

LoL. Dutch was a no-show. Probably bussy playing in some satellite tourneys to get into the main event. Sam went out to see him as well this weekend, but again - noshow. Weird.
