any british nprs here? please explain his article...

hey,

so i see this article
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/ne...icle3864666.ece

and i'm assuming that this is something big because the article describes the event as a 'blood bath'...do the losing party members get hacked to death with machettis or something?

but seriously, i'm not too much into british politics or anything, but after reading this article, i take it this is big news. What does this mean for the country?

also, not meaning to start a heated thread.....i'm sure there are opinons on all sides. i'm just curious what this news means for the average british citizen. Is the country going to explode now or something? Like i said, from reading the article, you'd think the world was going to end.

I'm sorry if i'm asking stupid questions, excuse my ignorance....but like i said i know nothing about the political situation over seas...i guess i could watch BBC america, but all i really watch is Ramsays Kitchen nightmares on that channel...

basically, Brown is a very unpopular leader who was never elected, only got to be PM because Blair stepped down. What does it mean for the country? It means the incompetent corrupt liars from the blue team will probably win the general election, intead of the incompetent corrupt liars from the red team.

This should be the official dictionary definition for politics.

Yup NC got it right. Labour got rid of Tony Blair 'cause they thought nobody likedhim anymore and they put a mental defective called Gordon Brown in his place 'cause they thought people would like him better. That shows how intelligent the Labour Party is, Brown is not only incompetent he also needs psychiatric help, at least Blair could talk without giving the impression he had a poker stuck up his orifice.
Brown has been in office for around a year and has just led the Labour Party to their most disastrous local elections in 40 years, despite all the brownie points he gained for not being Tony Blair.
Boris Johnson (Conservative) has just been elected Mayor of London replacing Ken Livingstone (Labour). Boris Johnson is at least amusing, he's also highly intelligent, but God knows what he'll be like as Mayor, when he opens his mouith you're never quite sure what is going to come out, but more interesting than all the other robotic clones.
So in 2010 Labour will probably be out and the Conservatives will be in and it will all continue as before.

Was just another random decision

Need someone new as imo nobody around atm with the right balls, backbone honesty, good faith, and sincerity to do the job.

Is that too much to ask from a leader

Brown was the chancellor of the exchequer, ie the money man of the goverment, telling us what taxes we have to pay, raising the taxes on fuel, putting taxes on everything you can think about. Like most countries we have had a very spell of money matters, low intrest rates, good house prices, but as with most countries we here are feeling the backlash from the so called mortgage meltdown in the states.

Brown was not elected!!! he IMO is not the man to lead us, he does not have the balls to make decisions.

In light of all this, the labour party took a good pasting at the local elections on Thursday, but to top it off, a guy called Boris Johnson won the race to be Mayor of London, this guy is so funny and it will really hurt the labour party because he bats for the blue side!!

I dont understand all these mini elections in England and Wales!

I would never vote Labour (illegal war and all) and no-one north of the border would ever vote Conservative after what happened in the 80's. id rather be shot than vote for these two parties.

Gordon Brown lost the respect of most of the Scottish people after he said his greatest sporting memory was when England beat Scotland at Euro 96!
Thats a cardinal sin for a supposed Scotsman to say since we live and breath Football.

Alex Salmond is the only politician I trust

The choice of Gordon Brown was not random.
When the Labour party were devising a strategy to beat the Conservatives back in the nineties they agreed that Blair would be Prime Minister for a while and that he would then give way and let Brown be Prime Minister for a while. This was why Brown agreed to let Blair take over as the leader. But once Blair got into power his memory suddenly became very hazy about the actual terms of the agreed change of power and he kept dragging his feet and hanging around when Brown and the Brownites wanted Blair to go and let Brown take over, as agreed. They finally managed to get him out by threatening to resign en masse, so Blair left and Brown took over as agreed but years later than expected. Anybody in their right mind could see that Brown was a liability but most members of the Labour government seem to be not very bright.
I predict a contest for the leadership of the Labour party before the next election.
