Homebuyer, thanks for the article...that sums this situation up so very well. I think there is a lot of misinformation going around in this whole debacle, including the allegations that this was racially motivated despite 2/3 officers being minorities themselves.
I keep seeing these references to the number of shots - if that many shots were taken I feel very sure the police felt threatened. We seem to keep hearing about the wedding day but all of this rather conveniently continues to omit the details about the drugs and such that were clearly involved here.

i don't really think the act was racially motivated, but it was wrong and the officers should be reprimanded/punished/jailed/you name it.
You know what i don't hear in any of these reports?
Officers saying 'freeze' or 'keep your hands where we can see them' or 'this is the police'
no warning, these officers unloaded 50 some bullets because they 'thought' the guy had a gun. one officer shot 31 times. think about it. how many bullets are in a clip? how many times did the officer had to stop and reload?
for the amount of ammunition used you'd think that the officers were facing an giant army of gun carrying thugs.
if you or me shot 31 bullets into a man because we 'thought' we were in danger you better believe we'd be facing some sort of jail time.
well jeeze, if as a police officer you can practice vigilante street justice, why don't we all just start up our own neighboorhood militas and have a shoot out and not be held accountable?
don't you think that police officers should be held at a higher level of accountability than civilians? I mean, if you're going to point a gun and shoot (31 times no less) there better be a DAMN good reason why you did it...and not because you heard 'go get my gun'.
i don't think you'd want cops like that patrolling your neighborhood
rofl, i can't believe that was written by a legal analyst!!!! i guess the bullets, dead body, and lack of gun is not proof enough.
