Buy $20 worth of Google Adwords that relate to your keyword and start at 5 cents a click. That will get you 400 views from people in search of you content. If your forum is good people will bite.

Offer NP$ in the Marketplace to this forum's members in return for a few posts on your own forum. Seems to be working well with numerous people.

I would recommend holding off on spending money advertising your forum until you have at least a little bit of activity.

First thing you to try to get new member is to tap into your contacts list, invite your friends and family to join and start conversations amongst yourself. Hopefully the topics are interesting enough that new members will want to join and participate.

Once you have activity, paid advertising is a good idea.

Invite people you know. Then you have to show them that your forum is different than all the rest. If you offer something unique, it will be a lot easier for the word to get out there, whether it be by paying for advertising, word of mouth, etc.
