He resigns because he's gay.
Effective November, 15.

Saw it on tv, damn, he wasn't that bad of a governor, dont have any news articles, and not gonna search for any >

His office says the man he had the affair with was trying to extort a hefty sum of money to keep quiet. I guess the gov did the right thing to come out himself. He resigned, effective three months from now. I wonder if he could change his mind in November once everyone is "over it".

Well it's not that he is gay, its that he had an affair while in office and he is MARRIED.

Sheesh, in this day and age I was about to really question why someone would resign over being gay, but of course the news twists it around.

Don't you think the same thing would have happened if it was another woman and not a man? I think so.

i don't see what having an affair, gay or not, has to do with being an effective or successful governor. there is really no relation whatsoever.
if the voting public decides they don't want their civic leaders having affairs they can vote him out at the next election (although past examples certainly don't indicate any probability that that would happen). It's certainly no reason to be expected to resign.

Yea, i was watching news 12 NJ, and they were going aroudn asking if people thought he should resign justbecause hes gay, the majority said no, it should matter.

I think the fact it was a homosexual affair, rather than just an affair had a lot to do with why he was presured to resign. Many polititians have been caught being unfaithful and not felt it neccessary to resign. Heck, even Bill Clinton while president had numerous affairs and never lost much support or resigned, even when he was caught lying about it.

why was he a bad governor? he's rated as one of the most powerful / better governors in the coutnry right now, and he has been a good governor compared to the last few we had.

I dont see why he should have resigned, but he wanted to protect his family, but in my eyes, he was doing a good job, no one knew, he could have kept it quiet if he wanted to, and no one would have noticed/cared.
The governor is barely paid 100k a year, (something like 150k?) i dont think he has the ability to assign someone a 100k post, unless he assigns them to someone close to him, which i doubt he did. you have any proof he did?

He has been accussed of awarding his gay lover a high paid government. post. I don't know if it is true. But I do notice the dirty mudslinging/unsubstaniated nature of politics. This is a serious allegation to make and should be backed up.

When someone says "hey george bush hired that woman from florida because she bought him the election" would you NOT say "hmm, that sounds like political mudslinging" and ask for substantiated proof prior to making a conclusion? Of course you would.
If the governor did in fact rock out with some nepotism with his gay lover, than sure that's probably a factor that could justify his forced resignation. You can't just sling an accusation like that out there and provide absolutely no backup for it and expect that to be viable and conclusive evidence.

Hmmm.. that news story is more then two years old. It is just now that it has come to the surface in an explosive way.

I agree the title of this is unsubstantiated anti-homosexual regurgitation . By making it a issue of his being a homosexual the real issues get masked.

I can give many reasons why I think he is a bad governor. However if you missed the real reason for this, and seem to say if someone is paid under a certain amount it justifies giving high paying jobs away I am not sure it is worth my typing.
