Yeah, after using Windows Vista that was bundled on my new Laptop, I finally decided to upgrade to a better software, Windows XP.
Needless to say, I'm happy with the improved performance and usability that this older version of Windows offers. It actually treats me like someone who knows computers, as opposed to the newer Vista, which constantly asked questions, requests, trying to prove that I had picked up the mouse just two days ago.
I'm happy. I was finally able to connect my two laptops with a Cat5 cable, something that had eluded me for two months!
I also manage to save about 1 hour everyday because I'm not asked countless dumb questions, and neither do I have to hunt for hours in the Control Panel to find the things I want to change.
I'll admit though, changing the desktop wallpaper was a breeze in Windows Vista. Isn't that why we all buy computers for?
My wife just bought a laptop with vista. grrrr. I heard the warnings before but didn't have the option to buy xp as shipped. Maybe I should upgrade her to xp.
I work for a huge dow 30 that has basically banned vista on all new purchases. When a huge company says "thanks but no thanks" there are probably good reasons.

Smile! In a few short years you will realize that these are the good old days!
I tried to upgrade a friend computer's the other day, from vista to XP, and it didn't work.
The PC is Dell Dimension E520, every time it booted XP disc, it always ended up with BSOD.
I tried booting Knoppix CD (a Linux Live CD), and it didn't worked either. Googled it, I found out I need to load SATA driver for XP using a floppy disk, and unfortunately the PC has no floppy drive.
hmm
I had bought laptop last month and was thininking to use windows xp professional because their was more problems that i cant see folders and it loads very slow
but i dont know whether it works or not but i give a try soon
mine is lenovo y410
i'm with peter on this one. i use vista and it's fine - better in fact.
seriously do not take this personally, but the masses are complaining because (imho) the masses are n__bs.
the biggest complaint i've heard about it is because of the "are you sure you want to do this/that" message that always appears. well guess what? it's not that hard to turn off. just go into uac and turn it off with a few clicks.
Pwoaarr Windows ME - I don't usually have much to say on Microsoft's operating systems but ME was terrible.
I don't mind Vista either. It's a long, long way from being good however has a nice set of more intuitive features which is a nice change to the feel XP occasionally had (especially with networking).
Having said that I wouldn't mind at all going back to XP, and don't recommended most people to upgrade from it as right now it's simply not worth it. Spec wise if you are not on anything running more than 2 cores then XP can handle it fine, when you move up to quad core and so on I would recommend Vista as it can handle it better.
Is now the time to mention I'm actively seeking a mac?

Vista gives too many headaches, yesterday I tried to find ad/remove programs in control panel but couldn't. Probably coz i was in a hurry to go but I'm sure it was not there where it had used to be in XP. So i stick to my XP in my desktop PC.
