Help! problems with my display/videocard

hi guys
I'm having problems with my display/video card I don't know honestly
I currently have a radeon x1650 256MB and it worked perfectly the first 6 month... then, it crashed everytime i started a game or smth similar
i decided not to run any more gaes on the computer.. afterwards, it became worse.. it began to crash anytime it wanted really.. I could readsmth and my screen went black and a message "no signal or out of range" appeared... i don't know if the problem is in the monitor or in the videocard
other times, when i started the computer some strange colourful appeared randomly on the screen.. i thinkthat's bad.. then, when I'm at the login screen, I'd move my mouse a centimeter, and the system was blocked
another image appeaerd several times and here it is

What is your rez set at? Too high for your monitor?
Also make sure your refresh is within range.

Make sure the Monitor model will handle the new card and check the refresh rate to be sure it is within range.

i did and everything seems to be in order... I'll try to remove the video card and check if nothing moved..
i also read that there are lots of windows xp sp2 users that have problem with that.. perhaps, i should upgrade to vista? i don't know

Presumably you have tried downloading the latest drivers?

If XP sp2 caused a problem for your graphics card then it is possible the graphics card manufacturer released a new driver set for it.
