Talking Moving Day Fun

It never ceases to amaze me

You move into a place with a few things
and years latter it looks like it would take
two big truck loads to hall it all away

We are moving 30 miles west from where we are now

When we came here we moved in a mid-sized U-Hall

12 years later well.........

There are 200 computers in the shed that have to go,
2 pianos, 4 cars, office equipment, enough clothes
to cover everyone in a small village and so much paper
that I could build a tree....

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/the-break-room/4128-moving-day-fun.html
I just ordered a 30 yard rolloff dumpster
The thing is bigger than the U-Hall we moved in with
And we are filling it up
And there is still more stuff in the house

Ah the joys of being a packrat
The longing for the simpler life...

One bed, two changes of clothes, a TV/VCR, my computer...

Naw that won't work
Just fill a bigger U-Hall... move... and let the packrats start over

We just went through this only a short while ago.

Have you considered donating some of that stuff to local charities? Or having a garage sale with the proceeds to be donated to local charities? You might be able get stuff out of the way, not fill-up the landfills, and help a charity or two in the process. Worked for us!

We also left a lot of stuff in front of our place with a sign "free stuff" and things were picked up faster than we could place them there.

All the best with the move..

Have fun...

Yup done that

Some going to the Goodwill
Some going to local Churches
Some going to a thrift store
Some in the front yard as free stuff
Some at the curb for the roadside shopping club
Some going to ebay
Don't have time for a yard sale

Yup and there is still more stuff

The landfill is getting mostly paper and wood
The computers are going to a recycle place

I moved recently and it was a nightmare, the phone line didnt work here and verizon's workers kept going on strike. They never fixed it in around 50 days so I got cable -_-

If there more then 3-4 years old you'd be lucky to break even for the shipping

I know how the moving thing goes John.
I moved a few months back after being in the same place for 5 years. Had a 3 car garage/shop...Never had any room for cars in the damn thing but I did manage to get my 1963 chevy restoration done one winter.

The computers are old

Most are 8088's
a few are 486's
DotMatrix printers
RGB, CGA, Mono, and VGA Monitors

These were trade-ins when I was running
my computer shop

If you want them swing on by and I will
load them all in your U-Hall

I will even buy you lunch!
