I recently managed to register what I guess would be considered a "GEO" domain. For the sake of this conversation, lets say it's anyTownUSA.com (an area in Any City USA) This is being developed as a blog. Here I'll be discussing everyday news and developments pertaining to the area as it develops over the next few years.
Along with that registration, I also reg'd a series of domains I plan to develop:
anyTownUSAApartments.com
anyTownUSACondos.com
anyTownUSAStudios.com
anyTownUSAOfficeSpace.com
anyTownUSARealEstate.com
etc.
The goal is to develop each one of these domains into real estate sites. Surprisingly enough, I got in pretty early and managed to reg a few of potentially good keyword searches. For now I have them all redirecting to the domain that houses the blog. My first question would be is this wise? Or should I put some content on these individual sites? Maybe something like would you like to list your property here would be enough?
Second question. As a Web Developer, I frown upon those who squat on trademarks. So my question is, are cities, towns, etc protected names? My first guess would be that it's open. If I'm looking for a condo in "anyTownUSA", it only makes sense to register (condosInAnyTownUSA.com, anyTownUSACondos.com etc) Lastly, does the same apply to registering just the name of the location, in my example that would be "anyTownUSA.com Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
