It's up to the staff how they feel this topic should be delt with, wheather they want to hide or delete it or keep it viewable, however, I think advertising the website in your sig is going a little too far...
I'm sure a lot of people won't appreciate the website being posted, nevermind advertising it in your sig on an open public forum.
Just thought I'd share an opinion that you should think about.
Damn that's harsh! I can't believe people can do things like this to each other.. No one deserves to be treated this way. viciouscircle- please take that link off your sig, I think the topic itself is enough.
Man this thing is killing me. Is there some type of donation program being set up to help Nick's family? What Al-Qaeda linked website is CNN talking about? I'm sure it must have closed by now, if it hasn't, it should.
I think its damm disgracefull that ANYONE in their right minds might want to go "hey look at this guy being killed". makes me sick.
I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but in my honest opinion, this kind of **** should be completely fukkin banned from the WWW.
acts837: how could anyone? a lot of people have different ideas to the west to bring a point across, they KNOW the west goes weak at the knees at this sort of thing so this they will keep doing it, unfortunatly thats life.
How could anyone post it? dont ask me, i think they are SICK.
I dont come to a web design forum to see someone get killed.
ill admit that advertising the website in my signature was probably too much, however the link was not directly to the video, nor was it to a page containing images from the video. the link lead to a page that provided a link to another imageless html document where you could choose what you wanted to see. be it the movie or pictures of the movie (available from the drudge report). i in no way disguised what the link was to. if you read the subject of the post and watched any news at all within the past week, you would know what you would be headed to if you visited the link. i posted this in an accurate forum, and posted this because it is newsworthy, and many people have yet to see anything of it. the problem i see here is that people are ignorant about what really goes on in certain areas of the world and when confronted with it, they simply wish to ignore the facts. i in no way meant to cause any controversy beyond the possible political discussions that could have developed from this. if anyone IS interested in viewing this, feel free to PM me and i would be more than happy to link you to either the movie or the pictures from it.
welcome to reality. i wasnt celebrating this guys death in anyway. i was posting a link RELEVENT to current events in the world. if you want to ignore reality and whats goin in the world, then feel free. i do not see how this is any different from a post such as http://www.namepros.com/showthread....&threadid=30343
as for the comment of how this is off-topic, please note that i posted this in "The Break Room". which as you can read on the front page is "The place to talk about anything"
see it from my point of view, I come to this web site not to see this kind of stuff right, and then you go and link to it! why should I then click on your link, that would make me a hypocryt!
so please dude, this is not the kind of thing you come here for, its not nice.
I agree with what your saying about you know what you'd be seeing if you clicke the link, but thats does not excuse you from posting this kind of crao on a WEB SITE DESIGN forum.
freedom of speech and everything, but this kind of stuff is twisted and wrong. you should RESPECT other people's wishes and have consideration for others.
so dont click on it. you didnt even have to click on the thread. i didnt link directly to the movie either. had you clicked on my link, you would have been taken to a page with no images where you could click on a link that would take you to another html page with no images. you then had the option of wether to view the movie, or a group of screenshots from the drudge report. anyone who clicked the link did so of their own free will, most likely because they wanted to view the video. i wasnt forcing anyone to even acknowledge the post, i simply posted a link relating to a current news story for anyone who was interested in viewing it.
Look, politics aside the bottom line is this is a video of someone being viciously murdered and that's not allowed here. The same would go for any other snuff film, child porn, pirated films, etc, etc.
We permit a degree of freedom in what is welcomed to linked to here, but certain things may cross that line. There are hundreds of news sites that you can discuss this on and anyone who wants to see the footage will be able to find it on their own. There's no need for this to be linked to from a domain and web design forum.
You created a special site to show off the video, complete with a keyword spam paragraph for the search engines. In another thread you brag about Alexa stats and how many visitors you've gotten to the same site. It's obvious this was nothing more than a thinly disguised attempt to exploit this event for your own gain. Bah!

ok, fair enough, i didnt click the link, i havent clicked the link, and I wont.
and I certainly didnt think you would be low enough to post the video on this page here, as that wouldn't have been human of you.
I respect your opinions RE: making people aware of middle east stuff, but I have heard enough about it and seeing as my brother has only today gone back there, i didnt appreciate it. especially on this forum you know.
shall we shake hands and be friends? i've said all i need to say now i think!
Tjobbe
I didnt realise he'd gone that far.. thats way out of order
i have no issue with you removing the link, had it been left at that. however, people seem to be taking personal issues against me. if i believe something im entitled to believe it. im more than willing to comply with your rules, however people telling me that im "sick" is not something im happy about. my other thread was unrelated to this. i posted this site TODAY. prior to today slant-six had NO content related to nick berg. alexa ratings and traffic were based off non-related traffic. slant six is undergoing a redesign and i have recently changed hosts. i simply decided to use my own webspace and bandwidth to allow people to view the movie. you can even view a yahoo cache at http://216.109.117.135/search/cache...&yc=19719&icp=1 i created the site for me to use to post on the 3-4 message boards i regularly visit and send to my friends and i stuck the keyword paragraph in there on the suggestion of a friend. i was in no way attempting to exploit the situation.
If that's the case then I apologise for the implication and withdraw my statement. Just the thought that anyone would try to benefit from this truely makes me ill.

thats great for you. i dont, however it was the staffs decision. in the future, try not insulting people when you dont agree with them.
the website is www.al-ansar.biz it has been shut down. ive heard both because of the movie itself and because of server strain. im not sure which is true.
