Question XBox or PS2

Hey gamers,

I need to choose one of these, a gift to me from someone addicted to games. I think its a great idea, as then I can stop playing my obsolete PC games (not that I play much), and separate my work area from my play area.

Anyway, I've always been into RPG-type and simulation games like Pool of Radiance (very old game), Populous, Railroad Tycoon, and SimCity. I don't like fast shoot-them-up games.

So which one - XBox or PS2 - is more appropriate for my kind of games?

Also, are there options and accessories - like additonal memory, keyboard, and and joystick - that you recommend?

TIA!

Apollo

I used to have a PS2 though I prefer my Xbox (sold my PS2 as I ended up never playing it). It's just better in just about everything.

I would have to say PS2 because Xbox seems to have many shooter-type games out these days from what I've noticed.

I've never played an XBox, so my opinion is obviously bias, but in my opinion you can't go wrong with a PS2.

My brother is a gamer, so I just asked him about it. He said there is many more features for the XBox, but there's a fair selection of games for the PS2 to chose from. All in all, and to keep things short and sweet, he told me the XBox is overal better, but he personally prefers the PS2.

I not sure if that helps much!

I enjoy simcity 4 and all the sims.

Excellent Pc games.

But I like Ps2 better than xbox for many reason. Free online play, cheaper prices.

Looks like prference is just about even, with 5 votes for XBox and 6 votes for PS2. But these were the clincher:

Thanks for your help, friends! I look forward to lots of manhours wasted in front of the PS2. So if I don't have as much time grabbing great names, you would know why.

There's always something "coming soon", and if I always wait for the next best thing, then I'll always have nothing. Its a fact of 21st century life that as soon as you buy something, chances are its already obsolete.

Anyway, PS2 prices right now are reasonable. I imagine PS3 or PSX when it comes out will cost much more.

I read a short articale (Don't remember where) and the PSX is silver and flat, it's pretty cool. You can download music, movies, surf the internet, play DVDs, just like a real computer. Too bad it costs over $1,000

I'd rather buy a new computer..lol

I am also deciding between the two. I have decided on Xbox though... found a real bargain package deal... well, for the UK anyway.

I would say check out www.gameplay.co.uk and www.game.net for excellent prices in UK on games and consoles.

Just brought home my PS2 today, and very much feel like a kid again.

Anyway, the package I bought came with the standard controllers and a memory stick, driving accessories (steering wheel and foot pedals), a dance pad (to shake off excess pounds ), and 15 games! I already settled for a couple:

Age of Empires II
Army Men (Sarge's Heroes)
Sims
Hitman (Contracts)
Gran Turismo 3
Dark Alliance II (Baldur's Gate )

Now I have to find nine more within the next 3 months. Any recommendations most welcome. Thanks!
