I was looking at places like Amazon and saw that there are two versions of Vista Premium, the Upgrade version and Normal Version. I can't find anywhere on their site that says what you need to use the Upgrade version, but it is significantly cheaper.
Am i right in thinking that if i have windows xp then i will be able to get the upgrade version of vista? Or will i need to get the full normal version?
You can get the "upgrade" if you are running XP Save some The issue is more of what you will be able to keep, or rather you will have to do a complete "fresh install" (ie: reformat of HD with all files/settings overwritten). This depends on what you currently have, and what exact version of Vista you are installing over it. For details to answer this, see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvis...pgradeinfo.mspx

I can just do an
In-place upgrade
You can upgrade in-place, which means you can install Windows Vista and retain your applications, files, and settings as they were in your previous edition of Windows.
As im using WinXP Home I'll be getting ultimate, may as well splash out and get all the features instead of a year down the line thinking "I wish i had that feature"
