Though he is now the former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld is expected to be accused of war crimes in a lawsuit to be filed next week in Germany.
The Center for Constitutional Rights will file the suit on behalf of a group of Iraqi detainees as well as the so-called 20th hijacker, who is currently being held at Guantanamo Bay.
"The former secretary actually authorized a series of interrogation techniques," said Michael Ratner, President of CCR. "They included the use of dogs, stripping, hooding, stressed positions, chaining to the floor, sexual humiliation and those types of activities."
I'm not sure if it was either him or Dick Cheney, but I did read recently where one of them was quoted that "water torture" isn't really torture - or something along those lines.
If it was him, I wouldn't be surprised that he authorized torture procedures
How said that the enemies of democracy are allowed to use it's own mechanisms against it.
So when you capture the mastermind of 9/11, what kind of treatment should he receive? I bet peoples answers are a lot different than they would have been on 9/12. I will never understand why we have such short memories.
Regardless of what the enemy does, it does not excuse lowering ourselves to their level.
Torture is revenge pure and simple. It serves no practical purpose.
It weakens a country's international standing to order the torture of prisoners.
If Rumsfeld or anyone else in the administration ordered torture then they should be held accountable.

You are going to see a lot change now that they are in control. this is one of them. I am so sick of how decent hard working people who do the peoples dirty work get in trouble by the people. The United States is full of hypocrisies!
A LOT of people have a LOT to answer for with the invasion of Iraq, which in many lawyer's eyes was an illegal invasion under international law.
The US, UK, Italian, Polish, Australian and South Korean Government Officials will all be prosecuted if it is deemed illegal and people go looking for blood.
Donald Rumsfeld, Tony Blair, Burlesconi, you all better watch out!
It won't happen however due to the sheer numbers of countries actually involved in Iraq. You may see a few select people getting tried (if any), Mr. Rumsfeld would seem the obvious target.
Iraq is a great place for business. I think I read
somewhere that the government contracts are about 1-2
Billion dollars a week. If you had a piece of this, would
you want the war to end ?
